Dorian Büchi (born in Lausanne in 1989) is a Swiss artist based in Zurich. His work takes a critical view of one’s interaction with the subconscious as well as exploring the role the environment plays in forging one's aesthetics and ideas. From painting, sculpting and to etching, his projects often spawn from personal experiences and philosophical questioning.
His work ranges from poetic representation of the human figure to geometric systems keeping record of his daily emotions and finally the depiction of evolving mountain landscapes.
His latest project is based on his mountaineering adventures in the Alps paired with the idea of "derive" and psycho-geography that philosopher Guy Debord raised in the 1950s. This series is a testament to a world unknown to most, rapidly transforming and perhaps eventually disappearing in the midst of the environmental crisis proliferating today.
Dorian Büchi has exhibited in Geneva, Berlin and New York and is currently based in Zürich.
